This morning I have filled a big oblong planter with Iris bulbs. I got the bulbs from Aldi for £3.99. I shall eventually put these straight into the ground but want to grow them on a bit first.

After planting, water well, thoroughly soaking the area.  In colder regions foliage and flowers will wait until winter’s cold has passed and will both develop in the spring.

We have planted some Lavender Munstead in between the roses. I love Lavender and had a beautiful one in the big blue pot but the runner ducks ate it all so the new plants are hidden behind a fine net fence along with the roses and Clematis.

Munstead Lavender is named for Munstead Woods, the home of famous garden designer Gertrude Jekyll. Tolerating summer heat the best of all the English Lavenders, Munstead Lavender looks great planted with Yellow or White Roses.
